NowI'm pretty sure you have to be online on the PS4 for the initial setup, and for a few games, right? I think you might be right - I guess I assumed they would want all the basic functionality besides internet. As far as the email thing goes - I was just trying to protect you; that thing will get skimmed and spammed if you're not careful how you pass it around. As Macutchi and I were pointing out - even if you don't want to play online, single player games are often broken messes these days without patches, and corresponding firmware updates on the system aren't anything to ignore either.
